MTR EAST RAIL LINE TRAIN(RT47)

MTR East Rail Line trains, also known as Mid-life Refurbished Trains. The original trains were ordered by the Kowloon-Canton Railway from the United Kingdom. Before refurbishment, they were the first generation of electrified trains on the East Rail Line, which were used to serve the railways after the electrification of the East Rail Line in the 1980s. In the 1990s, the original train design could no longer meet the needs of the new towns along the railway, so a major refurbishment was carried out between 1996 and 1999. The streamlined shell of the refurbished trains made them more modern in appearance, with the front end being curved, and the colour scheme being changed to silver and black, which is why railway enthusiasts refer to them as "fly-heads" according to their appearance.
