MTR LIGHT RAIL TRAIN II(RT48)

The second phase of the Light Rail came into service in 1992. Compared to the orange and white colour scheme of the early phase, the second phase of the Light Rail used a more distinctive red, blue and yellow colour scheme. In the early days, route signs were made of cloth, and train drivers had to stir the rollers to display the correct route or destination, commonly known as "churning". By 2003, all the cloth signs had been converted to the current LED electronic route signs, and route number signs were also added at the rear of the trains to provide passengers with better information about the service.

In the 1940s, a large number of Chinese people came south to settle in Hong Kong, including many barbers from Shanghai and Zhejiang, who opened barbershops in Hong Kong, called Shanghai Hair Salon. Shanghai barbers brought to Hong Kong classic hairstyles such as "Flat Head", "Egg Tart" and "Flight Head", which, coupled with their special haircutting techniques, attentive service and affordable prices, made "Shanghai Hairdressing" the mainstream in the barbering industry. At that time, going to a Shanghai salon for a haircut was regarded as a form of enjoyment, a reflection of the sophisticated lifestyle of Hong Kong people in the last century and a part of Hong Kong's culture. Nowadays, after half a century, Shanghai hair salons have not been able to withstand the impact of fast-cutting chain shops and new-style hair salons. Few Shanghai hair salons remain, and although the shop décor and the various tools in the shop, including tin fans, old hair extensions, and traditional razors, have remained unchanged for decades, the overwhelming number of customers in the past is no longer the case.
